How Authentic Authority (and AI) Is Changing the Game

Time for a Big Shift

Alright, if you’ve been with me on this podcast ride, you know I love talking about big changes. And today is one of those moments. After close to 50 episodes, I’m making a shift, because frankly, the rules of marketing and business have changed. Authenticity and authority aren’t just buzzwords anymore; they’re the whole freaking game now. And yes, AI is a huge part of that.

Forget the Hype - Here’s What Works

Let’s cut through all the noise. Everyone says “be authentic,” but how many people actually do it? For years, I’ve watched people try to game the system, go after vanity metrics, or chase whatever the latest clickbait trend is. But what actually works? Being real. Showing up for your audience. If you can build trust, fast, and for real, you’ll squash your competition. Plain and simple.

I work with everyone from startups to $50 million companies, and we ALL want the same thing: Clients who know us, like us, and trust us. When you put authenticity first, suddenly it’s not about hustling for that next Google click or outspending on ads.

Raise Your Hand - Authority Still Wins

The next piece of the puzzle? Raising your hand and owning your role as an authority. It’s not enough to just be “out there” - you’ve gotta be the go-to in your space. Maybe that’s writing a book (trust me, it changed my business), launching a podcast, hosting events, or simply sharing your expertise consistently.

I see it all the time: My friends Darcy, Jesse, and Ray all wrote books. Not only did those books land them deals, but they made them trusted, sought-after experts. My own journey, same story. And listen, don’t let anyone tell you “books are old school.” The format might shift, but the authority that comes from having something real to your name? That never goes out of style.

Stop Ignoring AI - It’s Here to Help

Let’s talk about the other elephant in the room: AI. I’m not going to lie, at first it freaked me out a little too. But here’s the deal, we use AI and automation every single day in my business. It’s not some crazy future tech, it’s stuff you need in your toolkit NOW.

What’s cool is that you can feed your own voice, your stories, your process, heck, even your book, into AI models to create digital “twins” of yourself. My team literally asks the “Brian bot” for input that sounds like me. It saves time, keeps us consistent, and ensures our message is always authentic. And it works. I’m seeing clients show up in search results and AI queries way more than they ever did before.

Proof This Isn’t Just Talk

Want a real story? A little coffee shop I work with in Montana went from barely scraping by online to DOUBLING their business, just by showing up as themselves and letting AI help amplify their expertise. This isn’t about chasing likes or paid ad hacks, it’s about positioning yourself as the real deal, so the right buyers find you. And nobody in the “old way” of doing things is keeping up.

What’s Next? Go Get It!

So here’s my advice, stop hiding behind “perfect” or waiting on someone else to tell your story. Start being the REAL voice in your business, and let technology amplify it. That’s what I’ll keep diving into in upcoming episodes, with guests who are actually doing this stuff. And you can do this whether you’re selling coffee, lipstick, or multi-million dollar equipment.

Ready to Get Started? Here’s What to Do:

  1. Shoot me a DM on LinkedIn if you want to talk through how to become the authority in your space (seriously, I love talking about this and helping other business owners get visible!).

  2. Subscribe to the podcast and drop a comment with your biggest marketing struggle. I’m lining up guests to tackle your real questions, so let me know what you want tackled next!

Let’s get you seen, trusted, and winning, by being the real you.
