Hanging Out on Jurassic Marketing’s Tricera-talks: Outsourcing, Small Business Hacks, and Good Laughs
Podcasting with the Jurassic Marketing Crew
Let me tell you, there’s nothing like kicking back with folks who really “get” small business. My recent stint as a guest on Jurassic Marketing’s Tricera-talks podcast was a blast from start to finish. The hosts, sharp, welcoming, and full of good questions, made the whole thing feel more like a casual Friday coffee break than a formal interview.
Diving into Small Business Realities
We got right into it. The conversation rolled from my background building and selling my own business, to my passion for helping small businesses scale through smart outsourcing. I shared the story of how outsourcing changed everything for me, taking document coding, from something nobody wanted to do, to a growth engine by partnering with remote teams.
The hosts asked questions, like how today’s tight labor market affects business owners, and what I see as “must do” jobs versus what can go to a remote team or even be automated. Trust me, there was plenty of real talk about the stigma around outsourcing (“are we taking jobs away?”), and I got the chance to set the record straight: for most small businesses, these roles wouldn’t exist locally anyway, and going remote actually creates MORE opportunity and flexibility here at home.
We Got Into the Nitty-Gritty: What, Where, and How Much
One of my favorite parts was running through real-world examples. We talked about rates, how a top-notch virtual assistant in the Philippines can make a solid living at $300/month, and how that gets a business owner out from under endless admin tasks. I gave the inside scoop on the differences between gig-based work (think Fiverr/Upwork), and long-term remote hires (OnlineJobs.ph, hiremymom.com), plus the red flags to watch for when hiring virtually.
We didn’t shy away from the messy bits either: pay advances, ghosting, and culture miscommunication. I shared my “red herring” trick, always include a random question in your job ad so you know people actually read what you wrote. More than a few listeners chimed in afterwards saying they’d start using the tip!
Laughs, Oddball Outsourcing Stories, and Takeaways
The real fun came with the "Can It Be Outsourced?" segment. From original artwork to wardrobe consulting, even viral sign-flipping videos, I got to riff on some of the weirdest things I’ve sent to the global marketplace. And yes, a few laughs about hiring someone to dress me better definitely made their way in.
When your hosts make you feel at home, ask insightful questions, and let you share the fun stuff along with the lessons, you know you’re on a good show. Jurassic Marketing’s Tricera-talks podcast was a great experienceb and I hope listeners walked away with a few ideas to lighten their workload, grow smarter, and have some fun in the process.
